Housing Appeals Committee

In 2001the Council appointed a Regulatory Committee called the Housing Appeals Committee to consider the following matters:
  • applications for accommodation and transfer
  • objections to the implementation of the Council's policy in relation to the adaptation of properties for people with disabilities
  • appeals from homelessness decisions
  • appeals against the Housing Managers decision regarding requests for the provision of (i) adaptations for persons with disabilities; (ii) central heating; and (iii) pavement crossings in cases where applicants are in arrears with their rents
  • cases before any Court action is taken, where a succeeding tenant is reluctant or is refusing to move to smaller accommodation.
Following adoption of the new Housing Allocations Policy in September 2004, the Council has amended its Constitution to rename the "Housing Appeals Committee" to the "Homelessness Review Committee".
