From July 2004 this committee has been renamed the Overview and Scrutiny Committee

 

Its primary function has been to support the work of the Cabinet and the Council as a whole.  It has allowed the public to have a greater say in Council matters by holding public inquiries into matters of local concern.  These have lead to reports and recommendations which advised the Cabinet and the Council as a whole on its policies, budget and service delivery.  The Committee also undertook the Council's Best Value responsibilities.
