MEMBERS ARE REMINDED THAT THE RECORD OF EVERY DECISION, WHICH THE CABINET MAKES, MUST INCLUDE THE REASONS FOR THE DECISION AND ANY ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS CONSIDERED AND REJECTED.

WILL MEMBERS ALSO NOTE THAT THE REPORTS WILL NOT BE CIRCULATED AGAIN, AND SHOULD BE RETAINED FOR FURTHER REFERENCE IF THE REPORTS ARE CALLED IN BY THE RELEVANT OVERVIEW AND SCRUTINY COMMITTEE FOR CONSIDERATION AND ALSO IF THE MATTER IS REFERRED TO COUNCIL.

To receive any declarations of members' interests in any matters which are to be considered at this meeting and to receive any dispensations which will be relied upon.

(When members are declaring a personal interest, or a personal and prejudicial interest in respect of which they have a dispensation, they should specify the nature of such interest. Members should leave the room if they have a personal and prejudicial interest in respect of which they do not have a dispensation.)

 

3. GENERAL FUND REVENUE BUDGET 2003/2004

 Attachment for Cabinet Agenda 24-02-03 

In accordance with the Council's Constitution Cabinet will be requested to consider whether it wishes to submit any objections to Council (27th February 2003) on its proposed amendments to the Cabinet's budgetary proposals.

For members information Council agreed the following amendments at its meeting on 17th February 2003:

1.  That the recommendations to agenda item 5 be amended by the addition of the following recommendation:

(i)  That the Council give notice of its intention to cancel its membership of the Local Government Association and that the savings be used to help finance a "gum buster machine" to remove chewing gum from paving areas across the Borough.

2.  That recommendation (i) to agenda item 5 be deleted and that the following recommendation be substituted therefor:

(i)  This Council welcomes the additional monies being made to the authority from Central Government and requests the Chief Executive to write to the relevant Government department seeking assurances that future settlements will at least be maintained to this year’s level.

3.  That the recommendations to agenda item 5 be amended by the addition of the following recommendation:

(k)  That following the success of the Community Warden in the Harlescott area, a figure of £90,000 be included in the budget for 2003/04 and future years for the recruitment, training and introduction of the service to cover the following areas of the borough:

Sundorne, Monkmoor/Underdale, Meole Brace and Castlefields/Ditherington.

The monies to be funded from the town only rate.

A letter by the Head of Finance to all members of Council in relation to (3) above is enclosed for members' information.
