The following decision of the Planning Inspectorate has been received by the Council regarding appeals against a decision to refuse to grant planning permission.
(a) Land Adjacent Honeysuckle Cottage, Cruckton
– Appeal against refusal of planning permission 03/0199/VAR for the erection of a dwelling, variation of condition no.2 of planning permission 00/168/VAR/88/85 dated 23 March 2000.Decision:
Appeal dismissed – 11/12/2003Summary:
The inspector considered the main issue was the impact of the development on journeys to and from Cruckton having regard to the local plan policies relating to sustainability issues. He accepted the Council’s argument relating to the status of the village as being not an HS4 settlement and that the Cruckton School location did not change this status. Furthermore the use of the internet by residents did not outweigh the location of an additional dwelling in this location. Finally the site was not an infill site due to its location with open gardens to the side. Overall he concluded that a new dwelling in this location was in conflict with the Local Plan and permission should be refused.Guildhall, Shrewsbury 05/01/04
