Air Quality in Shrewsbury - Public Consultation
Release Date:
24 October 2003
Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council will be holding two public consultation events when members of the public and interested organisations will be invited to have their say on Air Quality in Shrewsbury and influence the Council’s plans to improve our Environment.
The events are being held following the declaration earlier this year by the Council of three Air Quality Management Areas where levels of Nitrogen dioxide are of concern. The three areas are
- Smithfield Road/Frankwell
- Heathgates Island
- Hereford Road (A49), Bayston Hill.
The events will be held at:
- Bayston Hill Memorial Hall, Saturday 8 November, 1pm - 6pm.
- The Square, Shrewsbury, Tuesday 11 November, 1pm - 6pm.
The events will feature the ideas of local schoolchildren and free information packs including pens and balloons will be provided to visitors. In addition, Council staff will be available to record the views of the public and answer questions.
Councillor Yvonne Holyoak, the Council’s portfolio holder for Air Quality, said
"The Council are committed to protecting and improving air quality in and around Shrewsbury. These events are a great opportunity for residents and local organisations to find out what the Council will be doing and to record their own views and ideas. I know that everyone interested in our local air quality will want to visit one of these events and have their say."
