Sunday Screenings for Old Market Hall!

Release Date: 19 May 2004

Due to public demand for extra screenings the Old Market Hall will be opening on Sundays from the beginning of June.

Old Market Hall

Shropshire’s newest arts centre opened it’s doors in January and is proving to be a huge hit with many screenings sold out and a high demand for tickets for films.  The first Sunday screening will take place on 7th June with Touching the Void at 3pm and on the following Sundays popular films Winged Migration, Etre et Avoir, and The Dreamers.  The café bar will also be open for guests and tourists to come and view the building from 10am until 5pm.

Manager Lezley Picton today said

‘I’m delighted that the Old Market Hall is proving such a positive success, when we first imagined the project I don’t think we realised quite how popular it would turn out to be. We’ve had so many requests to screen films on Sundays and with many of our weekly screenings sold out we want as many people as possible to be able to use the building. Also with so many tourists visiting the town at weekends we felt it was important to be open for them to see this beautiful building.’

The project first met with controversy but since the centre opened residents have had a change of heart and the centre is proving extremely popular with programming of cultural cinema and digital media exhibitions.
